Jaxton’s SmartVest Story
At one month old, Jaxton was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF). Initially, his treatment plan started with chest physiotherapy, or CPT, an airway clearance technique involving manual chest percussions to loosen and help mobilize mucus.
When Jaxton turned four months old, his parents learned about high frequency chest wall oscillation (HFCWO) therapy, and how the SmartVest Airway Clearance System could help.
“We weren’t educated on the different options we had for vests until we did some research,” said Monica, Jaxton’s mom. “We learned about Electromed and SmartVest. They were very helpful to my husband and me with all the questions we had.”
“He is now 15 months and doing great!”
Soon after choosing SmartVest, a trainer helped set up their system, whom Monica mentioned as being “amazing.” Jaxton then started his treatment and he loved it.
Not only did Jaxton love doing his SmartVest therapy, but his parents no longer had to perform manual CPT, which can be difficult to keep up on a daily basis, especially when performing on a young child.
“Cystic Fibrosis doesn’t stop him from living life!”
“Every morning we sit down and do ‘treatment time’. He knows exactly what to expect even if he isn’t always in the best mood to do them. He is now 15 months and doing great! He has been the most happy ‘healthy’ baby, considering his unfortunate diagnosis. Cystic Fibrosis doesn’t stop him from living life!”
