What is COPD?

COPD is a chronic lung condition that can make breathing more difficult, such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, or asthma.

If symptoms worsen (also known as a COPD exacerbation), you may experience frequent pneumonias, respiratory inflammation, and/or permanent damage to the lungs and airways.

Expanded Coverage for Medicare Beneficiaries

A recent waiver (extended through April 11, 2023) from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) now make it easier for Medicare patients to have access to high frequency chest wall oscillation (HFCWO) therapy.

Clinical indications and documentation typically required will not be enforced for respiratory products, including the SmartVest Airway Clearance System.

To qualify, the minimum documentation needed is:

A valid SmartVest prescription
