The first step to getting your respiratory vest is to speak with a Patient Care Team Member, who will walk you through the SmartVest training process. Once your SmartVest is shipped, an Electromed patient trainer will call you to set up a time for a personalized in-home training session, providing you with step-by-step guidance on how to use and maintain your percussion vest at home or on the go.

Getting Your SmartVest
Once your SmartVest is shipped, your designated patient care team member calls you with shipping information and the expected delivery date for it to arrive directly to your door. Your device typically comes in two boxes and includes a kit consisting of a product manual, brochures, and other valuable patient resources.
Training with Your Patient Trainer
Our goal at Electromed is to schedule your training session around the same time your SmartVest arrives, so you can experience the benefits of airway clearance right away.
What to Expect During Training: Electromed’s team of patient trainers are all over the country to support bronchiectasis patients and those living with other impaired breathing conditions, such as COPD or cystic fibrosis, by helping them feel confident about using their airway clearance therapy independently!
On the day of your scheduled training session, your trainer will arrive at your home and walk you through the importance of airway clearance and answer questions about your new SmartVest system. Topics you’ll focus on include:
- How the SmartVest Airway Clearance System works
- How to program your SmartVest system
- How to care for your SmartVest system
- How to perform huff coughs
- How to troubleshoot your respiratory vest
- And more!
Your personalized in-home training also allows the trainer to ensure your vest fits comfortably and that you understand how to program the device according to your provider’s prescription. Your trainer will walk you through each step until you feel confident about performing therapy on your own, with the added knowledge that SmartVest support is only a phone call away.
